After School & Holiday Club

We have an After School & Holiday Club (Head Start Care Club) based at Smallthorne Academy Primary School where we offer provision from 15.00-17.30 Monday to Friday and 07.30-17.30 during the school holidays.

Head Start Care Club provides after school care and school holiday care, situated in the grounds of Smallthorne Academy.  We provide after school provision for pupils of Smallthorne Academy only but Holiday Club provision is available for pupils from any school.  We have access to the care club room within the school as well as the hall and outdoor facilities.

We provide aopropriate activities for children aged 3 years to 11 years which include:

  • Baking/Cooking
  • Art and craft activities
  • Group games
  • Outdoor/indoor physical activities
  • Self-help skills
  • Free choice activities
  • Trips (past trips have included Cadbury World, Bowling, Cinema and many more)
  • ‘Treat Night’ (such as movie night, games etc)

 

All of our staff are fully qualified to Level 3 and above, first aid trained and have many years of child care experience between them.  We are ofsted registered and have ‘met’ all required standards, receiving excellent feedback from the inspector.  (see Ofsted report on Ofsted website).

Opening and Closing Times

Term Time: 3.00pm – 5.30pm

Holiday Club– 7.30am – 5.30pm

We are closed during the bank holidays but do open on some of the Smallthorne Academy inset days. We ask you to book a week in advance where possible to ensure we can cater for your needs.  

Prices

Term Time- *£9 per day (3.00pm-5.30pm) OR

*£5 for 4pm club (3.00pm – 4.00pm)

Holiday Time– £30 per day (7.30am – 5.30pm)

All fees must be paid one week in advance (to secure your place) directly into the Care Club account ( Ref. child’s name). 

We accept all forms of childcare payment schemes, including Universal Credits, University Childcare Grants, Tax Free Childcare etc.

Food & Drink

During the school holidays, you will need to provide your child with a healthy packed lunch.  We will provide breakfast and snacks throughout the day.

We will book trips during the holidays, some will be free of charge but others (particularly if public transport is needed) will incure a charge.  You will be informed of this in advance. 

How to book

We have 2 ways of booking your child into care club.

  1. Book in advance for the week ahead by ringing or texting the Care Club staff.
  2. Ring Head Start Day Nursery on 01782 575733 or text the Care Club phone on 07395 067860 and let the staff know they need to pick your child up from their class.

Please remember to tell your child’s class teacher so they are aware of whom your child will be going home with.
